The Hickory Grove Christian School Athletic Department is excited to announce the new Varsity Cheerleading and Middle School Cheerleading coaches for the 2016-2017 season!
Coach Stephanie Huffman has been named the head coach of our Varsity Cheerleading squad. She previously served as the basketball cheerleading coach at Cuthbertson Middle School and the assistant JV cheerleading coach at Myers Park High School. She has been the Dance Team Director for the Carolina Speed, Charlotte Hounds, and Carolina Force, as well as the Studio Owner/Director/Choreographer of Championz Dance Company. We are excited to welcome Coach Huffman to the HGCS cheerleading program!
Coach Abbie Turner has been selected to coach our Middle School Cheerleading squad. She participated in collegiate cheerleading as a member of the squad at UNC Charlotte for two years. Additionally, she has three years of cheer coaching experience with Charlotte Cheer Elite Allstars. We are happy to welcome Coach Turner to the HGCS coaching staff!
This Thursday, July 28, the Athletic Department is hosting a Fall Sports Informational Meeting at 7:00 p.m. in room 3012 (Education Center Basement) intended primarily for new students and parents. Our new Varsity and MS Cheerleading coaches will be present at this meeting and would like to meet with students and parents interested in cheerleading at HGCS. Immediately following the Fall Sports Informational Meeting, they will hold a Cheerleading Information Meeting to introduce themselves and go over expectations for tryouts and the upcoming season. If your student intends to try out for cheerleading next week, please plan to attend this meeting.
