Class Colors Night & Powder Puff Football
This Thursday, September 20th is "Class Colors Night" at the home soccer and volleyball games! Students can wear their class t-shirts or class colors to be admitted to the home games for just $1. Join us at the soccer field after the Varsity Men's Soccer game for our annual Powder Puff tournament!

Homecoming Pep Rally
Join us this Friday, September 21st at 2:00pm in Gyms A/B for this year's Homecoming Pep Rally! We'll recognize our fall Varsity teams, introduce this year's Homecoming Court, and get ready for the Homecoming game!

Varsity Football Home Game - HOMECOMING

This Friday, September 21st is HOMECOMING at HGCS! We'll have a pep rally at 2:00pm in Gyms A/B to recognize our fall varsity teams and Homecoming Court. Varsity Football will kick-off against Village Christian at 7:00pm. Students who blue and gold to the game will be admitted for just $1! (General Admission - $5, Kids 10 & Under - Free). HGCS Alumni will be admitted to the game for free and are invited to enjoy food and fellowship at the alumni tent during the game (RSVP here)! Don't miss the crowning of the 2018 Homecoming King and Queen at halftime!

Homecoming Alumni Tent

Join us at the alumni tent for the HGCS Homecoming game on Friday, September 21st! We will have a taco bar, cornhole, and lots of great fellowship with HG alumni! Food will be served under the tent beginning at 6:30pm, and the football game will kick off at 7:00pm. All alumni and their immediate families will be admitted to the game and tent for free! Off-Season Workouts

Workouts for all high school off-season athletes are being held Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 4:30 at the field house. Both male and female athletes from any sport are welcome and encouraged to attend workouts.

Team Pictures

Fall team pictures for soccer, volleyball, and cross country have been rescheduled. Please see the schedule below for each team's updated date and time. All athletes will take both an individual and team pictures regardless of whether or not they are ordering pictures. Please bring your completed PICTURE FORM and money to turn in to the photographer on your team's picture day.

The Booster Club will be holding a fundraiser at Mooyah on Tuesday, October 9th from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. Eat at Mooyah to help raise money for HGCS!

The HGCS Athletic Department and AAA Booster Club need the help of volunteers to assist with admissions and concessions at athletic events throughout the spring season. Please sign up for a volunteer time slot on our Sign Up Genius page.

HGCS Alum Keith Griffin Named to Allstate NABC Good Works Team

HGCS alum Keith Griffin is the starting center at Wingate University and was named to this year's Allstate NABC Good Works Team. Keith was one of only 10 men's basketball players chosen out of a total of 278 nominees from colleges and universities. The honor recognizes student-athletes for their accomplishments off the court.

Keith is the son of Ms. Kim Griffin (8th grade teacher at HGCS) and a member of the HGCS graduating class of 2013. This season, he earned the honor of Academic All-District for the second straight year. He is a captain on the Wingate men's basketball team and a member of the FCA Leadership program. His community service includes volunteering at West Stanly Ministries, speaking to students at Wingate Elementary School, taking part in the Boys and Girls Club, tutoring and mentoring students at Monroe Middle School, and participating in United Way Day of Caring with Habitat for Humanity. Keith and his wife, Brittany, founded G.R.I.F.F.I.N K-9 Rescue in 2016 in Monroe, NC.

Keith's accomplishments extend to the basketball court as well. He was preseason All-SAC this year, averaging 11.2 points per game, 2.6 blocked shots per game (leading in the SAC), and 7.1 rebounds per game. He ranks fourth in the league in field goal percentage with 58.6%.

We are proud of HG alum Keith Griffin and all he is accomplishing at Wingate University!
