Varsity Softball Workouts
Softball workouts will resume this week on Wednesday, January 15th after school from 12:15 to 1:15 at the softball field on campus. Workouts will also be held next week Tuesday through Friday (January 21-24) after school from 2:45 to 3:45. Workouts are open to 7th-12th grade girls interested in playing softball this spring.   

Varsity Women's Soccer Workouts
Varsity Women's Soccer workouts are being held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 5:00pm through Thursday, January 23rd (excluding Monday, January 20th due to MLK Day). Student-athletes must have a current physical on file with the athletic office to participate.

Varsity Track Workouts
Varsity Track workouts are being held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 to 4:15pm. Track athletes are also encouraged to attend weight training with Coach Coble on Wednesdays after school. Student-athletes must have a current physical on file with the athletic office to participate.

Winter Sports Information

As September comes to a close, the Athletic Department at HGCS is preparing for the upcoming winter season. For those of you who are interested in trying out for basketball, swimming, or cheerleading this year, it is time to begin the registration process and complete your online athletic forms through FamilyID. The FamilyID registration must be completed and a current physical (signed by a doctor within the past 395 days) must be submitted for all winter athletes BEFORE tryouts begin.

Please read below for information regarding pre-season activities (if applicable), tryout dates and times, and how to register on FamilyID.

FAMILYID REGISTRATION INFORMATION

We have partnered with FamilyID, a secure online platform for submitting all necessary information for sports participation. Families will be able to create an account, register middle school and high school students for sports each season, and digitally sign athletic forms. Sports physicals, which must be updated and signed by a doctor every 395 days, may be uploaded directly to your FamilyID account.

Each family will only need to create one FamilyID account. Multiple children can be registered for multiple sports seasons under one family account. 

Hickory Grove's FamilyID site is now open and accepting registration for winter sports. Tryouts will be held the week of October 28th, and specific days and times for each sport can be found on the FamilyID page. Each student-athlete's online registration must be complete and sports physical must be uploaded (or submitted in person to the Athletic Office) before tryouts begin. You can begin your athletic registration now by following the instructions below:

REGISTRATION PROCESS: 

A parent/guardian should register by clicking on this link:

Follow these steps:

1.  To find your program, click on the link provided above and select the registration form "Hickory Grove Christian School Athletic Registration Winter 2019-2020" under the word Programs.

2.  Next click on the green Register Now button and scroll, if necessary, to the Create Account/Log In green buttons. If this is your first time using FamilyID, click Create Account. Click Log In, if you already have a FamilyID account. Do not create a new account if you previously registered a student for the fall season.

3.  Create your secure FamilyID account by entering the account owner First and Last names (parent/guardian), E-mail address and password. Select I Agree to the FamilyID Terms of Service. Click Create Account.

4.  You will receive an email with a link to activate your new account. (If you don’t see the email, check your E-mail filters (spam, junk, etc.).

5.  Click on the link in your activation E-mail, which will log you in to FamilyID.com

6.  Once in the registration form, complete the information requested. All fields with a red* are required to have an answer.

7.  Click the Continue button when your form is complete.

8.  Review your registration summary.

If you previously registered a student for the fall season, you should be able to select the student’s name after you click on the winter registration link. This will autofill that student’s information so you do not have to enter the information again manually. Please be sure that the student’s physical form that was uploaded is still current (signed by a doctor within the past 395 days).

The link to access Hickory Grove's FamilyID site is also available under "Athletics" on the school website. The NCISAA sports physical form is attached to this email and is also available as a PDF link on the FamilyID site. The sports physical form will need to be printed and signed by a doctor before it is uploaded to your FamilyID account or submitted in person to the Athletic Office.

Spring Sports Informational Meeting

The Spring Sports Informational Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 31st at 6:30pm in room 3012 (Education Center basement) regarding workouts, tryouts, and requirements. All students and parents interested in spring sports at HGCS should plan to attend this meeting. 

Spring sports tryouts will begin the week of February 18th. Specific dates and times for tryouts will be posted on the Athletic Announcements Blog in the coming weeks. All students must turn in ALL athletic forms (Athletic Physical Form, Athletic Participation Agreement, Athletic Medical Forms Packet) to the coach or athletic office by the first day of tryouts in order to participate. 

HS Boys Meeting January 30th
There will be a meeting for all 9th-11th grade boys on Wednesday, January 30th during 2nd lunch in rooms 1111/1112 in the Welcome Center.

Swim Team Pictures Rescheduled for January 24th

Winter team pictures for Varsity Swimming have been rescheduled for Thursday, January 24th at 3:00pm at Simmons YMCA. All athletes will take both an individual and team pictures regardless of whether or not they are ordering pictures. Please bring your completed PICTURE FORM and money to turn in to the photographer on your team's picture day.

Varsity Track Workouts
***NO WORKOUTS THURSDAY, JANUARY 24TH***
Optional Varsity Track workouts will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:50 to 4:00pm beginning January 8th (except during Missions week). Student-athletes are also encouraged to attend the off-season workouts offered at the field house on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please let Coach Stover know if you plan to attend workouts (andrewstover@hgchristian.org). 


Varsity Women's Soccer Workouts
Varsity Women's Soccer workouts will begin on January 14th and will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00/4:30.

***Spring semester off-season workouts begin Monday, January 7th***

Workouts for all high school off-season athletes are being held Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 4:30 at the field house. Both male and female athletes from any sport are welcome and encouraged to attend workouts.

Golf Tournament
The HGCS AAA Booster Club is excited to announce that the 20th Annual Golf Tournament will be held at Pine Lake Country Club on April 29, 2019. Over the years, our golf tournament has proven to be a great success and has contributed to many enhancements to the school’s programs. Recently, we were able to provide funding for improvements to the school’s softball field which included a new press box, concrete sidewalks, and additional bleachers. This was only possible through the contributions of our generous sponsors.

This year, our tournament goal is to raise $35,000 which will provide funding to establish a STEM lab for the school. The STEM lab is being designed to include Vex Robotics, 3D printers, model design, and building materials as well as movable furniture to allow flexible room arrangements. In order to meet this goal, we look forward to working with our participants and sponsors to make this milestone golf tournament a success!
