Spring Athlete Meeting
There will be a mandatory meeting for high school spring athletes on Friday, March 13th during 2nd lunch in room 1111/1112 in the Welcome Center. Spring athletes who already attended the fall or winter meetings this school year are not required to attend the spring meeting.

Varsity Volleyball Workouts
Volleyball off-season workouts will be held on Mondays (beginning March 2nd) and Fridays (beginning March 13th) from 3:00 to 5:00 in Gyms A/B. Workouts are open to high school girls interested in playing volleyball next fall. Student-athletes must have a current physical on file with the athletic office to participate. Workouts may be cancelled at short notice to move spring sports indoors if inclement weather interrupts outdoor practices.

Varsity Girls Basketball Workouts
Varsity Women's Basketball off-season workouts will be held on Thursdays (beginning March 5th) from 3:00 to 5:00 in Gyms A/B. Workouts are open to girls interested in playing varsity basketball next winter. Student-athletes must have a current physical on file with the athletic office to participate. Workouts may be cancelled at short notice to move spring sports indoors in inclement weather interrupts outdoor practices.

Team Pictures

Below is the schedule for spring team pictures. All athletes will take both the team picture and an individual picture regardless of whether or not you plan to purchase pictures. If your team's picture day gets rained out, we will attempt to reschedule for the next available date and will let you know about the new picture date as soon as possible.

Fall Student Athlete Meeting

There will be a mandatory meeting for all high school fall athletes this Thursday, August 15th during 2nd lunch in rooms 1111/1112 in the Welcome Center. All high school fall athletes are required to attend this meeting.

Gym Floor Refinishing
We are currently having our gym floor refinished in Gyms A/B, so the main gym will be closed this week. All volleyball practices have been moved to Gym C until Gyms A/B reopen. We ask that everyone please refrain from entering Gyms A/B while the floor is being refinished this week. Walking on the floor could damage the finish and further delay the process.

Meet the Football Coach
The HGCS Athletic Department is hosting a "Meet the Coach" event for our new football coach, Lynn Coble, on Monday, March 4th at 6:00pm in room 4102 in the Family Life Center. Students and parents are invited to attend the event to meet the new coach and learn about the future of Lions football under his direction.

Daniel Similton Signing Party
The Athletic Department is hosting a signing party for Daniel Similton this Friday, March 8th in FLC Room 4102 during high school 1st lunch (12:10-12:35) to celebrate his commitment to run cross country and track at Anderson University. All seniors, faculty/staff, and cross country and track team members are invited to attend.

Varsity Volleyball Workouts

Varsity Volleyball workouts will begin March 11th and will be held on Mondays from 3:00pm to 4:30pm in Gyms A/B. Students must have a current physical on file with the Athletic Department to participate in workouts. March 4th and March 11th will be open gym days for volleyball, and full workouts will start March 25th.

Spring HS Athlete Meeting
There will be a mandatory meeting for all spring high school athletes on Wednesday, March 13th during 2nd lunch in room 3012 in the basement of the Education Center.

Off-Season Workouts

***Spring semester off-season workouts begin Monday, January 7th***

Workouts for all high school off-season athletes are being held Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 4:30 at the field house. Both male and female athletes from any sport are welcome and encouraged to attend workouts. Students must have a current physical on file with the Athletic Department to participate in workouts.

Golf Tournament
The HGCS AAA Booster Club is excited to announce that the 20th Annual Golf Tournament will be held at Pine Lake Country Club on April 29, 2019. Over the years, our golf tournament has proven to be a great success and has contributed to many enhancements to the school’s programs. Recently, we were able to provide funding for improvements to the school’s softball field which included a new press box, concrete sidewalks, and additional bleachers. This was only possible through the contributions of our generous sponsors.

This year, our tournament goal is to raise $35,000 which will provide funding to establish a STEM lab for the school. The STEM lab is being designed to include Vex Robotics, 3D printers, model design, and building materials as well as movable furniture to allow flexible room arrangements. In order to meet this goal, we look forward to working with our participants and sponsors to make this milestone golf tournament a success!

Spring Sports Informational Meeting

The Spring Sports Informational Meeting is tomorrow (Thursday, January 31st) at 6:30pm in room 3012 (Education Center basement) regarding workouts, tryouts, and requirements. All students and parents interested in spring sports at HGCS should plan to attend this meeting.

Spring Sports Informational Meeting

Winter Sports Senior Night
Senior Night for winter sports is this Friday, February 1st at the home basketball games against Gaston Day School. Senior basketball players and cheerleaders will be recognized immediately after the Varsity Women's Basketball game, which is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.

Tacky Night at Tuesday Basketball Games
This Tuesday is Tacky Night at the home basketball games as the Lions face Concord First Assembly at 4:00 (JV Boys), 5:30 (Varsity Women), and 7:00 (Varsity Men). Students who dress for the theme night will be admitted for just $1 (regular admission is $3 for JV, $5 for Varsity, free for kids 10 & under).

Jersey Night at Tuesday Basketball Games
This Friday is Jersey Night at the home basketball games as the Lions face Gaston Day School at 4:00 (JV Boys), 5:30 (Varsity Women), and 7:00 (Varsity Men). Students who dress for the theme night will be admitted for just $1 (regular admission is $3 for JV, $5 for Varsity, free for kids 10 & under).

Spring Sports Informational Meeting

The Spring Sports Informational Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 31st at 6:30pm in room 3012 (Education Center basement) regarding workouts, tryouts, and requirements. All students and parents interested in spring sports at HGCS should plan to attend this meeting. 

Spring sports tryouts will begin the week of February 18th. Specific dates and times for tryouts will be posted on the Athletic Announcements Blog in the coming weeks. All students must turn in ALL athletic forms (Athletic Physical Form, Athletic Participation Agreement, Athletic Medical Forms Packet) to the coach or athletic office by the first day of tryouts in order to participate. 

HS Boys Meeting January 30th
There will be a meeting for all 9th-11th grade boys on Wednesday, January 30th during 2nd lunch in rooms 1111/1112 in the Welcome Center.

Swim Team Pictures Rescheduled for January 24th

Winter team pictures for Varsity Swimming have been rescheduled for Thursday, January 24th at 3:00pm at Simmons YMCA. All athletes will take both an individual and team pictures regardless of whether or not they are ordering pictures. Please bring your completed PICTURE FORM and money to turn in to the photographer on your team's picture day.

Varsity Track Workouts
***NO WORKOUTS THURSDAY, JANUARY 24TH***
Optional Varsity Track workouts will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:50 to 4:00pm beginning January 8th (except during Missions week). Student-athletes are also encouraged to attend the off-season workouts offered at the field house on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please let Coach Stover know if you plan to attend workouts (andrewstover@hgchristian.org). 


Varsity Women's Soccer Workouts
Varsity Women's Soccer workouts will begin on January 14th and will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00/4:30. 

Off-Season Workouts

***Spring semester off-season workouts begin Monday, January 7th***

Workouts for all high school off-season athletes are being held Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 4:30 at the field house. Both male and female athletes from any sport are welcome and encouraged to attend workouts.

Golf Tournament
The HGCS AAA Booster Club is excited to announce that the 20th Annual Golf Tournament will be held at Pine Lake Country Club on April 29, 2019. Over the years, our golf tournament has proven to be a great success and has contributed to many enhancements to the school’s programs. Recently, we were able to provide funding for improvements to the school’s softball field which included a new press box, concrete sidewalks, and additional bleachers. This was only possible through the contributions of our generous sponsors.

This year, our tournament goal is to raise $35,000 which will provide funding to establish a STEM lab for the school. The STEM lab is being designed to include Vex Robotics, 3D printers, model design, and building materials as well as movable furniture to allow flexible room arrangements. In order to meet this goal, we look forward to working with our participants and sponsors to make this milestone golf tournament a success!
