MS Cheerleading Tryouts
MS Cheerleading tryouts will be held this Thursday, September 1, from 3:00 to 5:30 in the Event Center (school cafeteria). Tryouts are open to girls in grades 6-8, and all girls must turn in all athletic forms in order to try out, including a current Athletic Physical Form, the Athletic Medical Forms Packet, and the Athletic Participation Agreement.
Varsity & JV Boys' Basketball Meeting
There will be a meeting for all high school boys interested in Varsity or JV Boys' Basketball this Thursday, September 1 during the first SMART Lunch session (12:10-12:35) in Room 4102 (FLC).
Baseball Interest Meeting
There will be a meeting with Coach Seibert this Thursday, September 1 at 3:00pm in Room 4104 (FLC) for all high school boys interested in playing baseball .
Home Games Monday & Thursday
Our volleyball and soccer teams play at home on Monday against Southlake Christian Academy, with MS Boys' Soccer and MS Volleyball starting at 4:00, JV Volleyball at 5:00, Varsity Men's Soccer at 5:30, and Varsity Volleyball at 6:00. On Thursday, our Varsity Men's Soccer team will face Cannon School at home at 5:30pm. Admission is $3 for MS and JV games and $5 for Varsity games (free for kids 10 and under).

October Football Theme Night Changed
The theme for the Varsity Football home game on Friday, October 14 has been changed to Pink Night in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Students who dress in pink for the theme night will receive $1 admission to the game.

The HGCS Athletic Department and AAA Booster Club need the help of volunteers to assist in different areas (admissions booth/table, concessions, apparel, etc.) at athletic events during the fall season, including football, soccer, volleyball, and cross country events. Beginning this school year, the Athletic Department will no longer use Schedule Star. We are currently transitioning to Google Calendar for our athletic schedule. This will allow our schedule to be more compatible with our school's academic calendar and website, and it will be more mobile-friendly for our students and parents. To access the athletic schedule, please visit the Athletics page of the school website and click on the "Athletics Calendar" link on the left side of the page. On this page, you will see the Athletic Events Calendar at the top. This calendar will show all sports teams, meetings, and Athletic Department events by default. Neon Night at Varsity Football Game
Our Varsity Football team returns home next Friday, September 2 at 7:00pm against North Raleigh Christian Academy! The theme for the game is "Neon Night," so wear your brightest neon colors! Students who come dressed for "Neon Night" will receive $1 admission to the game and a free glow bracelet. Regular admission for the game is $5 (free for kids 10 and under).

There will be an interest table and sign-up sheet for MS Cheerleading this Thursday, August 25 outside of the cafeteria during lunch. Any 6th-8th grade girls interested in participating in MS Cheerleading this year should stop by the table to meet the coach, get some information, and sign-up.

The Varsity Football scrimmage game against Lewisville HS scheduled for Friday, August 12 has been cancelled.

The 2016-2017 HGCS Back-to-School Bash is Monday, August 15 from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Head down to the field following the conclusion of the Back-to-School Assembly for games and concessions before the Varsity Men's Soccer match at 7:00pm. Admission to the soccer game is free.

Watch the Varsity Football team prepare for the upcoming season in a scrimmage game against Lewisville High School this Friday, August 12 at 6:00pm (free admission). New Varsity Baseball Coach

The Hickory Grove Christian School Athletic
Department is excited to announce Coach Kurt Seibert as the new Varsity Baseball coach for
the 2016-2017 season!
Coach Seibert is an experienced baseball player and
coach. He played collegiately at Clemson University and professionally with the
Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins major and minor league teams. He served as an
assistant coach at Clemson University, head coach at Georgia State University,
and head coach at Sidwell Friends High School in Washington, DC, among many
other positions. He has also been very involved with American Legion and Cal
Ripkin youth baseball. Last year, he was the middle school baseball coach at
Covenant Day School. He will join our teaching staff as well this year as a
middle school PE teacher.
We are excited to welcome Coach Seibert to the HGCS
family!

Varsity Women's Tennis Tryouts Extended
Varsity Women's Tennis is adding an extra day to the team's tryouts, which will now be held on August 8th, 9th, and 16th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the practice courts on campus (LA campus parking lot). The team's parent meeting will be held immediately following tryouts on August 16th.

Volunteers Needed for Fall Events
The HGCS Athletic Department and AAA Booster Club need the help of volunteers to assist in different areas (admissions booth/table, concessions, apparel, etc.) at events during the upcoming fall season. With the Back-to-School Bash quickly approaching, we are looking for parents, staff, and Booster Club members to help out in a variety of areas throughout the afternoon.
