Tryouts for the Varsity Women's Tennis team, which were originally scheduled for August 8 & 9 from 3:00 to 5:00pm, have been extended to include August 16.
Back-to-School Bash and Soccer Game
The 2016-2017 HGCS Back-to-School Bash is Monday, August 15 from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Head down to the field following the conclusion of the Back-to-School Assembly for games and concessions before the Varsity Men's Soccer match at 7:00pm. Admission to the soccer game is free.
Varsity Football Scrimmage and Season Opener
Watch the Varsity Football team prepare for the upcoming season in a scrimmage game against Lewisville High School this Friday, August 12 at 6:00pm (free admission). Then, be here for the season opener next Friday, August 19 as the Lions face Lake Norman Charter School at 7:00pm. Concessions will be open and admission will be $5 (free for ages 10 and under).
Football Game Theme Night
In honor of the 2016 Olympics and Team USA, come dressed in red, white, and blue for USA Night at the Varsity Football game on August 19. HGCS students who participate in the theme night will receive $1 admission to the game.
Player's Fee
All fall athletes must pay the player's fee before the first game of their season. This year's fee is $95 for MS and JV teams and $105 for Varsity teams. Athletes who have not paid their fee before their first game will not be allowed to play in any games until the fee has been paid.
Volunteers Needed for Fall Events
The HGCS Athletic Department and AAA Booster Club need the help of volunteers to assist in different areas (admissions booth/table, concessions, apparel, etc.) at events during the upcoming fall season. With the Back-to-School Bash quickly approaching, we are looking for parents, staff, and Booster Club members to help out in a variety of areas throughout the afternoon. New Athletic Calendar
Beginning this school year, the Athletic Department will no longer use Schedule Star. We are currently transitioning to Google Calendar for our athletic schedule. This will allow our schedule to be more compatible with our school's academic calendar and website, and it will be more mobile-friendly for our students and parents. To access the athletic schedule, please visit the Athletics page of the school website and click on the "Athletics Calendar" link on the left side of the page. On this page, you will see the Athletic Events Calendar at the top. This calendar will show all sports teams, meetings, and Athletic Department events by default. To narrow this down to specific teams, click on the drop-down menu arrow in the top right corner of the calendar and check or uncheck whichever teams you prefer. Additionally, there is a Practice Calendar below the Athletic Events Calendar on the same page. This calendar will show scheduled practice times for all teams by default, but can also be narrowed down to specific teams. You can add either of these calendars from the website to your own personal calendar on your computer or mobile device by clicking "+GoogleCalendar" at the bottom of the calendar. You can view additional details about each game/event, such as start/end times, locations, dismissal times, etc., by clicking on the game/event title.Sign Up for Remind Notifications
Notifications about athletic event cancellations, changes, and reminders are sent out via text through Remind. You must sign up with Remind to receive these text notifications on your phone. To sign up with Remind, text @hgcslions to the number 81010.
