Our MS Girls' and Boys' Basketball teams will play at home this Tuesday, December 6 against Gaston Christian School at 4:00 and 5:15! Admission is $3 (free for kids 10 & under). GO LIONS!
Christmas Sweater Night at Home Basketball Games Friday
Our JV and Varsity basketball teams play at home this Friday, December 9 against Cannon School at 4:00, 5:30, and 7:00pm. The theme for the night is "Christmas Sweater Night." Students who wear Christmas sweaters/apparel to the game will be admitted for just $1. Regular admission is $3 for the JV game and $5 for the Varsity games. GO LIONS!

Athletes must bring picture forms (Winter Picture Form, Senior Picture Form) and money with them on picture day. All athletes will take individual pictures regardless of whether or not they are ordering pictures.
Athletes are expected to arrive in the gym, dressed in their uniforms, at their team's assigned picture time. It is essential that we begin all team pictures on time so we do not delay games or practices.
Athletes on teams that do not have practice or a game on their assigned picture day must be picked up from the FLC immediately following their team's photo session. Please plan transportation accordingly.
The HGCS Athletic Department is hosting a Wrestling Camp over Christmas Break!
December 27-29, 8:30am-1:00pm, HGBC Family Life Center
Open to boys ages 8-18 (must be HGCS students or HGBC church members).
Cost: Free! (includes lunch and a t-shirt)
Registration Deadline: December 22.

Congratulations to Lions cheerleader Hailey Davis for receiving the Cheerleader Community Service Award yesterday at the 6th Annual Greater Charlotte Football & Cheer Awards Banquet! Caroline Vandaveer was also named a finalist for the Rising Star Cheerleader of the Year Award. Great job, ladies!
Volunteers Needed for Winter Events
The HGCS Athletic Department and AAA Booster Club need the help of volunteers to assist in different areas (admissions table, concessions, etc.) at athletic events during the winter season. Please take a look at our HGCS Sign-Up Genius page and sign up to volunteer at HGCS events this winter! We are especially in need of volunteers for our home basketball games on November 29 and December 9.
Athletic Fees Due
All athletic fees for winter teams are due before the first game of the season. Please turn in fees to the coach or the Athletic Office in the FLC. The fee for a MS/JV player is $95, and the fee for a Varsity player is $105. Athletes playing their second sport of the school year may receive a 50% discount on the winter player's fee. Any athletes with outstanding fees by the first game of the season will not be allowed to play until all fees have been paid.
Beginning this school year, the Athletic Department will no longer use Schedule Star. We are currently transitioning to Google Calendar for our athletic schedule. This will allow our schedule to be more compatible with our school's academic calendar and website, and it will be more mobile-friendly for our students and parents. To access the athletic schedule, please visit the Athletics page of the school website and click on the "Athletics Calendar" link on the left side of the page. On this page, you will see the Athletic Events Calendar at the top. This calendar will show all sports teams, meetings, and Athletic Department events by default. To narrow this down to specific teams, click on the drop-down menu arrow in the top right corner of the calendar and check or uncheck whichever teams you prefer. Additionally, there is a Practice Calendar below the Athletic Events Calendar on the same page. This calendar will show scheduled practice times for all teams by default, but can also be narrowed down to specific teams. You can add either of these calendars from the website to your own personal calendar on your computer or mobile device by clicking "+GoogleCalendar" at the bottom of the calendar. You can view additional details about each game/event, such as start/end times, locations, dismissal times, etc., by clicking on the game/event title.
Sign Up for Remind Notifications
Notifications about athletic event cancellations, changes, and reminders are sent out via text through Remind. You must sign up with Remind to receive these text notifications on your phone. To sign up with Remind, text @hgcslions to the number 81010.
